The Smashing Pumpkins announce Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness sequel and 2021 album tour

The Smashing Pumpkins are prepping a 33-song follow-up to their epic 1995 album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

The news was revealed today as part of the band’s 25th-anniversary of their landmark double album. The upcoming concept album will serve as the third part of a trilogy, following Mellon Collie and MACHINA.

The band was planning an arena tour to celebrate the anniversary of Mellon Collie, which has now been pushed back to 2021. Stay tuned for cities and dates for that upcoming run.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness was a huge success, spawning six hit singles (“Bullet With Butterfly Wings,” “1979,” “Tonight, Tonight,” “Zero,” “Muzzle,” and “Thirty-Three”). The album hit #1 in the Billboard charts and was certified RIAA Diamond in both the U.S and Canada.

Also announced today is the band’s collaboration with skateboarding streetwear collective HUF Worldwide, featuring the band’s iconic artwork.“Our Smashing Pumpkins collaboration pays tribute to the Mellon Collie album on its 25-year anniversary and pulls inspiration from some of SP’s most influential work throughout the ’90s,” said HUF.
