ShazamFest is Throwing Socially-Distanced Outdoor Shows in the Eastern Townships all Summer Long

While most Quebec festivals have either postponed this year’s edition or offered up a digital replacement, ShazamFest is returning with a series of socially distanced outdoor performances all summer long.

Set in Quebec’s scenic Eastern Townships about 90 minutes outside of Montreal, ShazamFest blends music, dance, circus, burlesque, and a number of other performance arts for a multi-sensory experience aimed at offering up a wide array of local talent. Founded in 2006, this year’s lineup presents a number of themed nights each weekend through September, including a psych-rock night with Hoodooed, a burlesque and basslines mashup with burlesque performer Miss Eva and music by the Charley Cliff Trio, and a rockabilly/soul smash finale with Bloodshot Bill and Perfect Strangers.

The outdoor shows will follow all social distancing protocols, and even have enough space for dancing, something that can’t be replicated at a drive-in. Capacity begins at 100 people for the August 8 night, with the possibility of scaling up to 250 later in the summer given the new Quebec capacity guidelines outlined earlier this week. No food or drinks will be sold on-site, and organizers aren’t shy to mention that ShazamFest is BYOB.

If you can’t make it out to the site, all performances will also be streamed live via Musique Indépendante QC.
