Metallica reuniting with the San Francisco Symphony for S&M2 show this September

Metallica

20 years after the release of S&M, which saw Metallica team up with the San Francisco Symphony for a collaborative take on the band’s material, the Bay Area thrashers are teaming up with the SFO again for a show dubbed S&M2.

The show takes place September 6 at the Chase Center in San Francisco, and also serves as the opening show for the new arena. San Francisco Symphony Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas is set to conduct part of the show.

Lars Ulrich discussed the upcoming event at a press conference today:

“The fact that San Francisco is finally getting a much needed world-class arena, the fact that Metallica get to be part of the opening celebration, the fact that we get to revisit S&M 20 years later, and the fact that we get to share the stage not only with the San Francisco Symphony once again, but with the legend himself, MTT, as he kicks off his final year as music director here in San Francisco. This is mind-blowingly awesome… bring it on ASAP!!!”

Tickets go on-sale Friday, March 22 at 10:00 am PST.
