A star-studded collection of artists paid tribute to the late Chris Cornell at the ‘I Am The Highway’ concert at the LA Forum last night (January 16). Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the event featured acts that toured with Cornell in Soundgarden and Audioslave including Metallica, Foo Fighters, The Melvins, Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age, and more. The lineup also featured an eclectic mix of pop-stars, including Miley Cyrus, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Brandi Carlile, country rocker Chris Stapleton, Fiona Apple, and more.

The night also featured two of the surviving members of Audioslave — Tom Morello and drummer Brad Wilk — playing a mini set with a rotating cast of guests vocalists, including Perry Farrell, Juliette Lewis, Tim McIlrath from Rise Against, Brandi Carlile, and Dave Grohol, along with a rotating number of bassists including Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, and Jane’s Addiction’s Chris Chaney.

According to Blabbermouth, Cornell’s widow took the stage to pay tribute to her late husband:

“We all know how music can change us, but Chris did something more extraordinary — he changed music and paved the way for so many from Seattle to across the globe,” she said. “And that legacy, and his influence, will live for generations to come. I am so proud that, along with his legacy, his philanthropic work continues to grow and flourish.

“Chris would be so very proud. Simply put, to me, and because of all of you, Chris lives on, a music immortal whose passion for helping others is more alive today than ever.”

Cornell’s 14-year-old daughter Toni paid tribute to her father with a cover of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” (alongside Ziggy Marley), a song they had played together in the past.
