Bad Feeling Magazine Podcast # 13 with Todd Barry & Andy Kindler

Recently Updated

We’ve got our first double-header this episode, featuring two of the finest working comedians today, Todd Barry and Andy Kindler. Why mash up these comedy legends into one podcast, when they each rightfully deserve their own? For starters, these are quick interviews, done on the fly during the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal this past summer. We recorded these in the lobby of the festival’s primary hotel / gathering spot, so there is a bit of background noise, but it actually reflects the chaotic vibe of the fest, and led to some unexpected guests dropping by, including the inimitable Ron Funches!

Apart from their relative brevity, both comedians discuss their history with the festival, and their impressions on comedy in general, so it made sense to place them together. While each comedian has a very distinctive tone, Todd Barry and Andy Kindler are two of the wittiest comics around, and it was great to hear about their individual approaches to comedy.

Todd Barry’s latest standup special, The Crowd Work Tour, is available now via Louis C.K.’s site for a mere $5. Consisting entirely of unscripted crowd interactions, it is one of the best examples of instinctual comedy you’re likely to ever see.

Andy Kindler is set to release his album Hence the Humor later this year. In the meantime, you can catch him on the latest seasons of Bob’s Burgers and Maron. You can stream Andy’s complete State of the Industry address from this year’s Just for Laughs here, which features his thoughts on Rocky Gervais, which we touch on in the podcast.

Our soundtrack to this episode is Vancouver’s excellent Needles // Pins. Go buy every one of their releases here.
