So Cal melodic punks Face to Face brought their Triple Crown tour to Montreal for three nights at Foufounes Electriques, playing one of their first three albums in its entirety each night. The band performed the albums in chronological order, beginning on Friday with their full length debut, 1992’s Don’t Turn Away, playing 1994’s Big Choice! LP on Saturday, and wrapping up with 1996’s self-titled album on Sunday night.

The crowd may not have been as out of control as they were on Saturday night, but the mostly over-30 crowd still sang along to the all the hits off of the band’s most popular album, including tracks like “Walk the Walk,” and “Ordinary.” The band seemed thrilled to be back in Montreal, a city that was instrumental in breaking the band back in the early 90’s, and one that has remained fiercely loyal to the band ever since.

After finishing up the album, the band ran through an encore including their cover of the Stones’ “Paint it Black,” as well as “Disconnected,” a song so irresistibly catchy that the band included a version of it on each of their first three releases. The band were joined on backups by members of locals Prevenge for the song, who then each proceeded to stage dive, capping off a perfect night of punk rock memories for many in the crowd who have been following Face to Face for nearly two decades now.

Openers Prevenge were a great addition to the bill, tearing through their Midwestern US-inspired numbers with total unabashed energy. Below you can check out photos from both bands, courtesy of Vitor Munhoz. For all upcoming tour dates visit facetofacemusic.com.
