Montebello Rockfest returns with a virtual 2020 edition

Get ready to relive the madness of Montebello Rockfest from the comfort of home. Skip the lines, mud, and overflowing toilets and tune in to relive some of the most “memorable” moments from the festival throughout the years in a virtual retrospective edition of the fest, streaming from June 19-21.

Described as a “unique immersive nostalgia experience in real time,” the press release promises the online event will encapsulate “the road trip to Montebello, your arrival at the campground, the party all over town, the music, the sunburns, and the usual madness while shouting ROCKFEST!”

Organizers are promising 50 hours of exclusive content, including highlights from prior editions of the festival and new content. The lineup hasn’t been revealed yet, but previous editions of the festival in the sleepy town of Montebello, Quebec have included System of a Down, Blink-182, Rammstein, Linkin Park, Motley Crue, The Offspring, Limp Bizkit, NOFX, and Insane Clown Posse.

Tickets to the virtual festival begin at $23.95 for a single day (including taxes and fees), with a weekend pass running $41.97. For the true Rockfest connaisseur, there is also an “Ultimate VIP Pass” for $421.58, that includes a “virtual festival in person at a secret location in Montebello on June 19-21 with Alex Martel, an experience limited to 9 people (all social distancing and outdoor gathering guidelines in Quebec will need to be followed). Parking, tents and camping material will be provided, as well as access to a shower, restroom, BBQ and fridge to keep the Bud cold!”

Rockfest declared bankruptcy in 2018, with organizers Outaouais Rock owing creditors a total of six million dollars. The festival then returned under the name Montebello Rock for a scaled-down edition in 2019.

Tickets for the 2020 online event are available here. You can check out some of the new Rockfest merch offerings below, including a mask to help block out all of the dust kicked up by the virtual mosh pit. Yessir Miller!
