While Fear Street 1994, the first in a trilogy of new Netflix films adapted from the R.L. Stine YA horror series, was a Scream-inspired teen slasher throwback, the sequel is going back even further for another setting very familiar to genre fans. Fear Street Part 2: 1978 focuses on a series of brutal murders at Camp Nightwing, a setting that harkens back to the original Friday the 13th films and the countless camp-set slashers that sprung from that franchise’s success.
Get ready for a bevy of short shorts, and if the brutal first installment is any indication, some of the most creative (and gruesome kills) we’ve ever seen from a Netflix production.
Check out the trailer below.
Fear Street Part 2: 1978 arrives on Netflix on Friday, July 9. The third and final film in the trilogy, Fear Street Part 3: 1666, lands on Netflix on Friday, July 16.
