Reigning party champion and natural energy resource Andrew W.K. is embarking on a Canadian run of shows next week, including a stop at Foufounes Electriques on March 26 (tickets here).
Similar to last year’s “Party Messiah Tour,” these solo shows feature Andrew with a keyboard, drum machine, and megaphone, and promise to get pretty wild. In a statement, Andrew says, “I’m truly excited and terrified of what will happen at these shows. We selected very special and very tight venues – places we might not normally play because this tour is designed for maximum chaos and to put us in the closest proximity to the party abyss!”
Apart from next week’s solo jaunt, as per usual, there is quite a bit on Andrew W.K.’s plate in the near future. He is working on his first book, The Party Bible (naturally) for Simon & Schuster, and is soliciting your best party tips via twitter (hit him up @AndrewWK with the hashtag #ThePartyBible).
On the collaboration front, Andrew co- hosted a Village Voice-sponsored Road Stories event with Wu-Tang’s Masta Killa last week, the entirety of which you can now thankfully stream below.
And finally, because ANDREW W.K., he recently teamed up with Internet celebrity kitty Lil’ Bub for an Animal Planet special, which also features Amy Sedaris. Watch the trailer and marvel.
We should also have our interview with Andrew up ASAP, so stay tuned!
