VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE: Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson battle it out in the first trailer

Three years after the surprise success of Venom, Tom Hardy is back as Eddie Brock/Venom in the first trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. As the extremely unsubtle title suggests, the sequel features Venom duking it out with the super-villain Carnage, played by everyone’s favourite stoner Woody Harrelson.

Based on the fan-favourite character from Marvel’s Spider-Man comics, Venom is an alien symbiote that attaches itself to Eddie Brock, a New York City investigative journalist. Carnage, another alien symbiote, is known as Venom’s archenemy and is attached to the serial killer Cletus Kasady.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is directed by Andy Serkis, best known for his groundbreaking motion-capture work as Gollum in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films. The film also features the return of Michelle Williams as Brock’s love interest and partner Anne Weying.

The first Venom (which we dubbed “a great bad movie“) went on to take in a staggering $850 million at the global box office.

From the looks of the first trailer, the film seems to be keeping with the wild CGI action and slightly deranged humour of the first film. We’ll see for ourselves when Venom: Let There Be Carnage tears into theatres on September 24, 2021. Check out the trailer below.
