The first footage of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune is here ahead of tomorrow’s full trailer

The first footage of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune has arrived via a new teaser ahead of tomorrow’s full trailer.

The highly anticipated sci-fi epic based on Frank Herbert’s iconic 1965 novel, Dune is the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), a young man trying to protect his planet’s greatest resource, Melange, which grants its users extraordinary capabilities.

The insanely stacked Dune cast also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Issac, Stephen Mckinley Henderson, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgard, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.

Here is the official synopsis:

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

Dune is scheduled to open in theatres on December 18, 2020. It marks director Denis Villeneuve’s first film since 2017’s Blade Runner 2049, another highly ambitious sci-fi epic.
