Keeping in line with their metal / punk / hardcore theme, Petite-Nation Rockfest just announced that Swedish metalheads Meshuggah, fellow hardcore countrymen Raised Fist, and reunited New Jersey skatepunk vets Bigwig will all be playing the festival, taking place June 20-21 in Montebello, Quebec.
They all join the previously announced NOFX, Despised Icon, and Guttermouth, with the full lineup set to be unveiled on March 12.
While the festival took a major hit for being a literal shit-show last year, with overflowing port-o-potties, and rampant organizational snafus, the festival has handed all production and logistics duties to the team behind the Festival d’ete de Quebec this year, which has run a widely successful (and incident-free) festival for decades.
Weekend passes, which run the gamut from $99 – $499 for something called the “Ultimate VIP Weekend Pass,” are available now at http://www.pnrockfest.com/en/tickets/
While last year was a chaotic mess organization-wise, the new logistical team, and the undeniable ability for the festival to book some of the biggest names in the metal / punk / hardcore have me cautiously optimistic for this year. We’ll see next week when the full lineup is released.
