Nicolas Cage to play Joe Exotic in new TV series. That’s the headline.

In a bit of absolutely perfect casting news, Nicolas fucking Cage has just been announced to play the role of Joe Exotic in an upcoming new scripted TV series for CBS.

According to a report in Variety, the series will be based on Leif Reigstad’s Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild.” American Vandal showrunner Dan Lagana will write and serve as showrunner for the 8-episode series.

Here is the synopsis from Variety:

“The story centers around Joe Schreibvogel, a.k.a Joe Exotic, an eccentric, exotic zookeeper in Oklahoma who fights to keep his park even at the risk of losing his sanity. The series will live in the lion’s den with Joe, explore how he became Joe Exotic, and how he lost himself to a character of his own creation.”

Stay tuned for more details on what will undoubtedly be the TV event of our lifetime. If you’ve somehow missed it, delve into the insane world of Joe Exotic with The Tiger King mini-series on Netflix now.
