While Montreal Pride is putting large gatherings on hold for this year, festival organizers have promised an “alternative program” to be unveiled in the coming weeks, and have just announced that Sandy Duperval will be the official spokesperson for this year’s edition. In addition to Duperval, the Grand Marshalls for Montreal Pride 2020 include Simon Boulerice, Debbie-Lynch-White, Marina Gallant, Anthony Johnson, and Dr. James Makokis.

“All these personalities were selected in acknowledgement of their considerable contribution to the recognition of the sexual and gender diversity (SGD) people’s rights,” the festival noted in today’s press release.

Sandy Duperval is a singer, DJ, and producer, and has served as an ambassador for Montreal Pride for the past four years. The Grand Marshalls include actor and author Simon Boulerice, actress Debbie-Lynch-White, manager Marina Gallant, and Anthony Johnson and Dr. James Makokis, winners of 2019’s Amazing Race Canada.

Due to government restrictions around large gatherings, there will be no parade or shows in Parc Faubourg this year. Stay tuned to the official Montreal Pride site for updates on this year’s programming, which runs from August 10-16. You can find our coverage of last year’s Pride here.
