What’s in a name anyway? Heavy MTL has been officially retitled as Heavy Montreal in an effort to further expand the festival’s offerings, but the heavy hitters are still being drawn from the metal side of things.
Set for August 8-9, the biggest coup this year is of course Metallica, who are making their first Montreal appearance in 5 years. In an interesting twist, ticket-buyers will be given an access code to vote for their favourite tracks, which will then make up the band’s setlist. Given Quebec’s fondness for cheesy RN’R, I wouldn’t be surprised to see “Fuel” top the list, but it’s a neat idea either way.
We’ll have our top pics for Heavy Montreal soon. In the meantime, below is the full flyer.
Weekend passes, ranging from $165 to $400 for the “Gold” version, go on-sale Friday, March 7th at Noon. For full info see http://www.evenko.ca/fr/show/evenement/heavy-montreal-8323
