Melvins brought their Pinkus Abortion Technician tour to a packed Corona Theatre (photos)

With two legendary bassists in tow (Jeff Pinkus of Butthole Surfers and Steven McDonald of Redd Kross), the Melvins returned to Montreal this week to bring their patented brand of heavy weirdness to a packed crowd at Corona Theatre.

With a setlist that cherry-picked from throughout their decades-long discography, the band played non-stop for over 70 minutes, delivering crushing aggression with a fan-favourite like “Honey Bucket” (which even saw a few brave middle-age folks stage dive like they were back at Lollapalooza ’92), while throwing in curveballs like their take on the Rolling Stones classic “Sway.”

As Melvins frontman Buzz Osborne told us in our recent interview, "We approach it more like performance art. As we put the set together, we feel like the whole 70 or 80 minutes is important, not just the songs."

Check out our photos from the show below, including openers Pig Buddha and Indian Handcrafts, courtesy of Eva Blue. For all upcoming tour dates, visit the official Melvins site.
