John Carpenter’s 1987 film Price of Darkness is getting the deluxe box set treatment.
Scream Factory and Sacred Bones are once again teaming up (they are also releasing a 4K box set for Carpenter’s They Live) for a lavish box set of Carpenter’s supernatural apocalyptic horror film which will feature a 4K UHD version of the film, a Blu-ray, and a limited edition 7″ featuring Carpenter’s 2017 recording of the film’s theme song with Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, along with a never-released version of “Love at a Distance.”
Scream Factory and Sacred Bones will each have a different limited edition color vinyl version of the record; the Scream Factory edition is limited to 2,000 copies, while the Sacred Bones color is limited to 500 copies. Scream Factory orders will also include an 18 x 24″ poster featuring the film’s iconic theatrical artwork.
Prince of Darkness is considered the middle film in Carpenter’s Apocalypse Trilogy, beginning with 1982’s The Thing, and culminating with 1994’s In the Mouth of Madness. The film stars Donald Pleasence as a priest investigating a mysterious green liquid that begins turning people into zombie-like creatures. It’s Carpenter’s most heady film and features a small but memorable appearance from the legendary Alice Cooper.
Check out the full specs below. The Prince of Darkness box set will be unleashed into the world on January 19, 2021. You can pre-order the set now via Sacred Bones and Scream Factory.
