EVIL DEAD RISE: Watch the trailer for the first Evil Dead film in a decade

It’s been a decade, but you can’t keep a good Deadite down. New Line Cinema has just unleashed the trailer for Evil Dead Rise, the first new film in the franchise since Fede Álvarez’s Evil Dead entry in 2013. The film arrives in theatres on April 21, 2023.

Original Evil Dead writer-director Sam Raimi and star Bruce Campbell are serving as executive producers for Evil Dead Rise, which comes from Irish filmmaker Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground).

Evil Dead Rise focuses on two estranged sisters, Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) and Beth (Lily Sullivan), “whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.”

The cast also includes Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Nell Fisher, Mia Challis, Jayden Daniels, Tai Wano, and Billy Reynolds-McCarthy.

“I’m thrilled to bring Evil Dead back to its original home at New Line 40 years after the release of the first film,” Sam Raimi said in a statement. “The company’s history as pioneers of horror speaks for itself. I’m equally excited to be working with Lee Cronin, whose gifts as a storyteller make him the ideal filmmaker to continue the enduring legacy of the franchise.”
