Emo rapper Lil Peep (Gustav Åhr) has died at 21 of a suspected overdose, according to manager Adam Grandmaison. Known for discussing drugs and depression in his music, the heavily-tattooed rapper blended hip hop with stark emotional honesty, a style which many dubbed as “Emo Rap.” Just hours before his death Åhr posted a video on Instagram telling fans we had “taken 6 xanax, and now it’s lit.”
After a slew of mix-tapes, Lil Peep released his debut LP, Come Over When You’re Sober (Part One) this past August. Lil Peep was just in Montreal on October 26 for a sold-out show at Theatre Fairmount.
