Dave Chappelle is back with 8:46, an intense new Netflix special that directly addresses the murder of George Floyd and police brutality. Netflix is making the new special available for free on their Netflix is a Joke YouTube page.
Chappelle recorded the special on June 6th in Yellow Springs, Ohio, with social distancing set up for the crowd, along with mandatory face masks and temperature checks.
The 27-minute set includes a note from Chappelle about the urgency of getting the special out so quickly: “From Dave: Normally I wouldn’t show you something so unrefined, I hope you understand.”
8:46 refers to the amount of time Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin held his knee to George Floyd’s neck before his death.
