A nearly 7-minute teaser for A Fat Wreck, the documentary about the San Francisco-based punk rockFat Wreck Chords, is now available online (see video above).
Owned by NOFX-frontman Fat Mike, the label has been releasing anthemic skate punk records for nearly 25 years, including landmark punk albums by Lagwagon, Strung Out, No Use For a Name, Good Riddance, Propagandhi, and NOFX (naturally).
Fat Wreck has been an incredible success over the years, selling hundreds of thousands of albums for bands that were used to playing in local VFW halls, and cementing a style and sub-culture that thrives to this day (especially here in Montreal, where the love of 90’s skate punk has never subsided).
The label gained traction early on through their series of discount label samplers, with Survival of the Fattest, in particular, being nearly inescapable for the latter half of the 90′. The success of the(and NOFX in general) even enabled Fat Mike to purchase something like this.
A Fat Wreck is currently being funded via Indiegogo, although a benefit show in Montreal by any number of our local NOFX cover bands would likely cover the entire remaining production cost in one night. Get on it you guys.
