“Bow Your Eyes, Close Your Head” podcast explores artists that grew up in strict religious households

Canadian musician and comedian Gabe Koury is out to explore the stories of fellow creatives that grew up in strict religious households with his new podcast, “Bow Your Eyes, Close Your Head.”

Koury explains that he grew up in “fairly big Italian Pentecostal Churches” in Montreal from birth until his early 20s. He “found some solace in it but also, without fail, [became] confused and conflicted due to my creative soul trying to seek truth and some relatable sustenance.”

That intersection between faith and the creative process forms the backbone for the podcast, which features interviews with the likes of Andrew Neufeld from Comeback Kid, Joel Dickau of Junior Battles, Guled Abdi of CBC’s Tallboyz 2 Men, and more.
