Finnish symphonic metal band Apocalyptica has proved you don’t need guitars to make boundary-pushing metal. While the band initially started as a Metallica tribute band using cellos in place of traditional guitars, they’ve seen evolved into their own unique space in the metal world.

Two days before their fellow Finnish headbangers Nightwish played the same venue, Apocalyptica teamed up with Italian goth-metal band Lacuna Coil for a thrilling double-header at Montreal’s MTelus. The show was long-in-the-making; the show had been rescheduled four times over the course of the past two years due to the pandemic.
