Agrikol’s Paul Toussaint Launching Pan-Caribbean Restaurant Kamúy in The Quartier des Spectacles

Le Quartier Des Spectacles is going to heat up this August with the arrival of Paul Toussaint’s Kamúy, a new pan-Caribbean restaurant from the chef behind Montreal’s beloved Haitian restaurant Agrikol.

Kamúy’s menu will reflect the gamut of food from throughout the Caribbean, promising to “combine the flavour, spice, and colourful creations of Caribbean food with fine-dining tradition of french cuisine, the comfort of  Quebecois casse-croute culture, the exploratory techniques of forward-thinking chefs, and the diverse influences of the many communities that call this city home.”

Apart from its eclectic menu, Kamúy will also serve as a hub of art from the Caribbean, with the restaurant’s art director and resident artist Oski filling the space with sculptures, paintings, and digital art, with assistance from a team of international artists and curators. Alongside the visuals, Toussaint is promising a vibrant soundtrack, featuring reggae, bachata, merengue, twoubadou, jazz, salsa, and more.

The restaurant will have indoor and outdoor seating and will serve a Bagatelle Brunch on Sundays until 3 pm.

Kamúy is set to open in the space that housed the Taverne F restaurant at 1485 Jeanne Mance next to Place-des-Arts. The restaurant opens on Saturday, August 8, and reservations can be made now by emailing info-reservation@kamuy.ca or by calling 514-447-7481.

Paul Toussaint was recently featured on the Montreal episode of Netflix’s Somebody Feed Phil, which highlights a different city’s good scene in each episode. Check out a trailer for the season below.
