After two full years of postponed dates, Rage Against the Machine finally brought their Public Service Announcement tour to Canada, including a massive stop at Festival d’été de Québec on July 16.
With singer Zach de la Rocha confined to a seat due to a recent on-stage leg injury, the band nonetheless delivered a fiery politically-charged set that truly felt of the moment, even if the band hasn’t released a new album in 20 years.
Opening up with the incredible salvo of “Bombtrack,” “People of the Sun,” “Bulls and Parade,” and “Bullet in the Head,” the band matched their incredible on-stage energy with the tens of thousands of psyched fans who packed the giant Plains of Abraham site.
While earlier U.S. shows on the tour addressed current political issues in the U.S., the band made sure to represent Canadian issues as well, highlighting statistics showcasing the increased violence towards Indigenous women in Canada on the giant screen behind them as well as advocating for the return of land to Indigenous communities.
