Queen of Spades trailer: It’s game over for some conjuring teens in this Canadian horror debut

The first trailer for the upcoming Canadian horror film Queen of Spades is here to remind you that summoning any creature from your bathroom mirror is never a good idea. The feature directorial debut from Patrick White, the film revolves around the legend of the “Queen of Spades,” a vengeful spirit that’s brought into our world by saying her name three times in a darkened room.

With nods to Candyman and The Exorcist, Queen of Spades seems to be trafficking in some well-worn horror territory, but the trailer definitely shows that White knows his way around a good jump-scare.

Here’s the official synopsis:

According to legend, an ominous entity known as the Queen of Spades can be summoned by performing an ancient ritual. Those brave enough draw a door and a staircase on a mirror, in darkness, and say her name three times. What happens next must be experienced to be believed. Four teenagers decide to summon the Queen of Spades as a joke. But they could never imagine the horrors this innocent prank has condemned them and their loved ones to. The evil entity won’t stop until she gets their souls.

Queen of Spades stars Ava Preston, Daniel Kash, Kaelen Ohm, Eric Osborne, Jamie Bloch, Nabil Rajo, and Krista Marchand. The film jumps through the mirror onto video-on-demand on June 15, 2021. Check out the trailer below.
