Montreal Jazz Fest and Francos festivals planned for September

Summer might be right around the corner, but we’ll have to wait a little longer than usual for two of Montreal’s longest-running festivals.

Festival organizers Spectra announced today that Les Francos de Montréal  and Festival International de Jazz de Montréal  will be pushed back from summer to this September, in the hopes that the festivals will be able to be presented in a more traditional format. In the meantime, the press release notes that they are planning for virtual and outdoor performances, should the circumstances allow it.

“We can’t wait to see the microphones being plugged in, the lights turning on on the stages, the musicians playing, the singers singing,” says Laurent Saulnier, Vice President of Booking Cultural Events and Spectra Festivals. “We can’t wait to bring music back to the Quartier des Spectacles and, most of all, we can’t wait to see the big smiles from the crowd! But of course, we will continue to monitor the evolution of the situation closely to make sure that our two festivals follow public health requirements and recommendations to ensure the safety of festivalgoers, artists and employees.”
