Black Widow and Cruella will debut day-and-date on Disney+ and in theatres
While theatres are slowly beginning to re-open, Disney isn’t abandoning its Disney+ “Premier Access” plan just yet.
According to a report in Variety, Disney has revealed new release dates for seven highly anticipated upcoming films and included the tidbit that Black Widow and Cruella will also be released day-and-date on Disney+ and in theatres. Each film will be available for a $30 purchase (in addition to the Disney+ subscription fee).
Cruella will debut on May 28, while Black Widow has been pushed back two months, and will now premiere on July 9.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will now open on September 3, while Pixar’s Luca will land on Disney+ on July 18 as part of the streaming platform’s regular programming.
Additional new release dates include:
- “Free Guy” on August 13, 2021
- “The King’s Man” on December 22, 2021
- “Death on the Nile” on February 11, 2022
Disney first utilized the “Premier Access” release strategy for Mulan, which had its theatrical release date pushed back a number of times due to the ongoing pandemic. The studio recently released the animated Raya and the Last Dragon as a Premier Access purchase earlier this month.
