Louisiana’s Renée Reed shares “Fast One” off her upcoming debut album on Keeled Scales

Louisiana’s Renée Reed has shared “Fast One,” the third single off her upcoming self-titled debut full-length due on Keeled Scales on March 26, 2021.

“Fast One” is a hazy folk track with Reed’s otherworldly vocals floating above the ringing acoustic guitar track, which brings to mind Joanna Newsom if she was a musical guest on Twin Peaks.

“Fast One” is full of anger over the shallow, shitty behavior of certain acquaintances I’ve had over the last few years, people who assume they know more about me than I do,” Reed says of the song. “But I leave things open to change and growth, and that maybe one day we’ll all smoke together and things will be cool.”

Reed’s upcoming album was written in both English and French — she is currently studying the latter at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, along with pursuing a degree in Traditional Music, both of which can’t help but inform the timeless yet relevant sound she’s exhibited over her first three singles.

Check out “Fast One” below. Renée Reed’s debut album is out on Austin’s Keeled Scales on March 26, 2021.
