Alexi Laiho, frontman of the Finnish metal group Children of Bodom and Bodom After Midnight, has died at 41.

“It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Alexi Laiho,” a statement from Bodom After Midnight said. “We are absolutely devastated and heartbroken for the sudden loss of our dear friend and band member.”

According to a statement on Alexi Laiho’s official Facebook page, Laiho died in his home in Helsinki, Finland, last week, after suffering from long-term health issues during his final years.

Children of Bodom formed in 1993 as Inearthed and called it quits in 2019 after releasing ten albums, and becoming one of Finland’s biggest bands. We caught the band numerous times over the years, including at their 20th-anniversary show at Corona Theatre in 2017. You can find our photo set from the show here. RIP Alexi.
