After sharing their recent cover of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” Metalcore faves August Burns Red has tackled System of a Down’s mega-hit “Chop Suey!” which recently surpassed one billion views on YouTube.
“After years of playing ‘Chop Suey!’ over the PA system right before we took the stage at our shows, we decided to take a crack at the song ourselves,” says August Burns Red guitarist JB Brubaker. “This is truly one of the most legendary rock/metal songs of all time and it was so much fun to cover. I’m especially proud of our singer Jake and our bassist Dustin. We haven’t done much clean singing in our music and this song showcases our vocalists in a whole new way.”
Check out the cover below.
August Burns Red’s latest LP, Guardians, was released via Fearless Records this past April. We last caught the band during their 10-year-anniversary tour for their Constellations LP — our recap and photos of the show are here.
System of a Down recently returned with their first new music in 15 years (!) motivated by the ongoing battle between Artsakh and Azerbaijan. Listen to the new tracks here.
