Moonlight director Barry Jenkins has used his quartine time to give Wilco’s perennial dad-rock favourite Yankee Hotel Foxtrot the chopped and screwed treatment as Yankee Purple Foxtrot.
Working with Houston’s Chopstars, Jenkins shared the remix album on Twitter noting that “NOBODY asked for this BUT… in a world where Jeff Tweedy and the boyz was from Houston, TX…,” adding, “Some Americana for the timeline given recent events. The #YeehawAgenda is alive and well.”
Jenkins previously resealed chopped and screwed versions of the soundtracks to Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk, along with a pair of Grizzly Bear albums.
Check out the radically reworked album below, which sounds like Jeff Tweedy downed an entire bucket of Sizzurp. Jenkins’ upcoming mini-series The Underground Railroad is scheduled to hit Amazon Prime Video soon. Watch the just-released teaser trailer for that after the jump.
