At 1 am this morning, U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted that he and his wife Melania have tested positive for COVID-19. “We will get through this TOGETHER!” he tweeted. Melania added: “We are feeling good.”
The news comes just days after Trump’s combative first election debate with Joe Biden. Trump displayed symptoms yesterday, but nonetheless maintained his schedule, including a fundraising event.
Trump has routinely downplayed the severity of the coronavirus and held large rallies with thousands of unmasked supporters. At 74-years-old and overweight, Trump is in the highest risk group for complications from the virus.
