Montreal Francophone psych-rock genre-benders Population II have shared “Introspection,” the wild first single off their upcoming À la Ô Terre LP and their first for California’s Castle Face Records (co-run by Thee Oh Sees mastermind John Dwyer).
“Introspection” begins with a chugging ’70s rock bass line, before moving into psychedelic guitar-rock territory that then transitions into full-on shredding, culminating in a thrashing crescendo that is sure to get even the most blissed-out hippie headbanging.
Here’s what the band have to say about the song:
“With heaviness through experimentation, “Introspection” is an immersion in the mind of one who feels the energy of raw Rock n ‘Roll running through its veins for the first time. Instantly, comes the need to transmit and amplify it.”
Stream “Introspection” below. À la Ô Terre is out on October 30th via Castle Face Records.
