The first trailer for Charlie Kaufman’s eagerly-awaited adaptation of Iain Reid’s I’m Thinking of Ending Things has arrived, ahead of the film’s Netflix debut on September 4th.
The film follows an unnamed woman (Jessie Buckley) who accompanies her boyfriend Jake (Jesse Plemons) on a trip to meet his parents during a snowstorm. As the title implies, their relationship is strained and she is thinking of breaking things off with Jake but agrees to the trip as a last-ditch effort to stay together. Once they meet Jake’s parents (Toni Collette and David Thewlis), things start to spiral out of control, leaving her to question not only her relationship with Jake but her very sanity and sense of reality itself.
I’m Thinking of Ending Things is Kaufman’s first time behind the camera since 2015’s stop motion film Anomalia. Kaufman also wrote the script, which should ensure that Reid’s wild novel gets the proper mind-expanding treatment the story deserves.
Check out the trailer and poster below. I’m Thinking of Ending Things hits Netflix on September 4. Mark your calendars now!
