Watch: Russian Si-Fi Thriller SPUTNIK Gets its First Trailer

The Russian sci-fi thriller Sputnik spun around the festival circuit last year, and is finally flying down to VOD and select theatres on August 14th.

The feature directorial debut by Egor Abramenko, Sputnik revolves around Tatiana Yurievna (Oksana Akinshina), a young doctor recruited by the military to assess Konstantin Sergeyevich (Pyotr Fyodorov), a cosmonaut who survived a mysterious space accident and has brought something back with him.

Check out the first Sputnik trailer and poster reveal below. We don’t see many large-scale genre movies out of Russia, and this one looks particularly exciting for those of us missing the traditional slate of summer blockbusters.

Sputnik is out on August 14th via IFC Midnight.
