Hollywood Comedy Legend Carl Reiner Has Died at 98

Comedy legend Carl Reiner has died at the age of 98.

According to a TMZ report, Reiner died at his home in Beverly Hills on Monday, surrounded by his family.

Reiner was an accomplished writer, director, actor, and producer, with a career spanning decades in Hollywood. He was the creator, producer, writer, and actor on The Dick Van Dyke Show in the 1960s, and directed many of Steve Martin’s greatest films, including The Jerk, Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid and The Man With Two Brains. In recent years, Reiner voiced the character of Carl Reineroceros in Toy Story 4, and on a personal level, still maintained his close friendship with lifelong friend and comedy partner Mel Brooks, including posting a photo just this week with the duo showing their support for Black Lives Matter.

Carl Reiner was the father of Rob Reiner, who followed his father’s footsteps into Hollywood, from his ’70s acting work on All in the Family to directing beloved films including This is Spinal Tap and The Princess Bride.
