Days before this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day (and the day after the 90th anniversary of Dr. King’s birth), a musical celebration of his life and work lands at Montreal’s Théâtre Maisonneueve at Place des Arts. “We Shall Overcome: A Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” arrives in Montreal on January 16 for the only Canadian stop on the 40+ city tour.
Put together by multi-instrumentalist and producer Damien Sneed (who has collaborated with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Diana Ross), the 9-piece ensemble will perform a selection of music ranging from gospel to R&B to spiritual standards, intercut with selections from Dr. King’s speeches.
Tickets for the Montreal show range from $35.52 – $95.80, and we have a pair up for grabs to a lucky winner! To enter the draw, simply email “contests@badfeelingmag.com” with the subject line “We Shall Overcome.” We will select a winner at random early next week. In the meantime, you can check out footage of the Stevie Wonder hit “Higher Ground” from a recent “We Shall Overcome” performance below. Tickets for the Montreal show are available via the Place des Arts website now.
