The Matrix 4 is going ahead with Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Lana Wachowski

Whoa.

Get ready to dive (bullet time style) back into the world of The Matrix.

According to a report in Variety, Warner Bros. Picture Group chairman Toby Emmerich confirmed the fourth installment today:

“We could not be more excited to be re-entering ‘The Matrix’ with Lana,” said Emmerich. “Lana is a true visionary—a singular and original creative filmmaker—and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in ‘The Matrix’ universe.”

The article mentions that “the film is eyed to begin production at the top of 2020.”

The Matrix recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, which included a theatrical re-release and a number of retrospectives, including a significant chapter in by Brian Raftery’s recent Best. Movie. Year. Ever.: How 1999 Blew Up the Big Screen book.
