Wu-Tang Clan
Place Bell
July 12, 2019
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut LP, the era-defining Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), Wu-Tang Clan assembled nearly all of their massive crew for a huge celebration show at Place Bell.
Method Man was a no show, but the rest of the Clan was all present, with Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s son (Young Dirty Bastard, natch) taking over his old man’s wild verses.
With nearly a dozen mics on-stage, the Wu battled some extremely distracting sound issues throughout their set, which even prompted GZA to address the issue at one point. Still, nothing beats the energy of seeing nearly the entire Wu-Tang Clan on on-stage tearing through tracks like “Protect Ya Neck” and “Bring da Ruckus,” which had the packed arena rapping along to each and every line.
The night ended with a promising new Wu-Tang song featuring Ghostface Killah and RZA, that proved there’s still some creative juice emanating from Shaolin after all these years.
