Smashing Pumpkins played their first “reunion” show at a small LA club, covered Joy Division with AFI’s Davey Havok
Smashing Pumpkins are getting ready to embark on their upcoming “reunion” tour by playing a couple of small shows in LA, which kicked off with a set at 400-capacity Troubadour last night. As promised, the set mostly stuck to their first five albums, and also included their new song “Solara,” the first song featuring the “classic” lineup of Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin in 18 years (original bassist D’arcy Wretzky has controversially not been a part of the reunion). The band capped the night off with a cover of Joy Division’s “Transmission,” featuring AFI’s Davey Havok on vocals.
Check out the setlist below. Smashing Pumpkins bring their Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour to Montreal’s Bell Centre on August 7th. Tickets are available here.
