Prophets of Rage
Montebello Rockfest
June 15, 2018
While Rockfest is generally thought of as a 3-day party out in small town Quebec, Prophets of Rage had more on their mind when they headlined the Friday lineup this year. Featuring Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine, DJ Lord and Chuck D of Public Enemy, and B-Real of Cypress Hill, the hip hop / rock supergroup delivered a blistering set of their own recent material, along with many classics from their previous bands, including era-defining cuts like Rage’s “Killing in the Name,” and Cypress Hill’s “How I could Just Kill A Man.”
While all their previous bands have been politically outspoken in their own way, Prophets of Rage really bring their political activism to the forefront, with tracks like “Unfuck the World” and “Hail to the Chief” from their recent debut LP slotting in nicely with fan-favourites from all their previous bands.
Below you can check out photos from their Rockfest set courtesy of Jason Hughes. You can check out our full recap from Friday here, and our recap from Saturday here. We also covered Rockfest’s recent bankruptcy announcement here.
