Run the Jewels
Metropolis
February 21, 2017
Hot off the recent release of Run the Jewels 3, the firecracker duo of El-P and Killer Mike rolled back into Montreal for a raucous sold-out headlining show at Metropolis on Tuesday night.
With giant inflatable hands rocking the duo’s trademark hand-signal looming overhead, MCs El-P and Killer Mike tore through their set with an intensity matched only by the amped-up crowd, who shouted along and crowd-surfed like they were at a mid-90’s Lollapalooza stop.
Both MCs seemed genuinely touched by the size and energy of the crowd, so much so that before they kicked into “Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)” in the encore, Killer Mike offered to buy the crowd the entire tray of beers from a waiter carefully trekking through the packed floor. Check out fan-shot video of that below, along with our photos from their intense set, courtesy of Jason Hughes.
