Alabama Shakes guitarist Heath Fogg is on the podcast!
After the startling success of the Shakes’ classic R’N’B influenced debut LP, Boy and Girls, the band could easily have produced a similar follow-up, secure in knowing that legions of fans would be clamouring for another “Hold On.” Instead, the band delivered Sound & Color earlier this year, a stunningly eclectic record that destroys any preconceptions about the Shakes’ sound.
We spoke to Heath about how the band approached the new record, his thoughts on playing festivals, how the band’s friends and family have treated their rapid success and the band’s guilty pleasures on the road.
Alabama Shakes headline the MRCY Festival September 26 in Laval, Quebec, just outside Montreal. For tickets and the full schedule, visit mrcyfest.com.
