The 90’s are alive and well, judging from the just-announced initial lineup for this fall’s Pop Montreal, set to run from September 16-20th in various venues across the city.
The lineup includes the recently reunited Babes in Toyland, making their long-awaited return to Montreal (September 19), along with the first-ever Montreal show for industrial pioneers Godflesh (September 18), the return of indie stalwarts Built to Spill (September 19), and the heady hip hop of New York’s Cannibal Ox (September 18).
Other highlights for this year’s edition include Toronto proto-punk legends The Diodes (September 17), The Pathways to Paris collective featuring ex-Sonic Youth axeman Thurston Moore (September 20), Arcade Fire’s Will Butler (September 18th), Italian electronic music pioneer Giorgio Moroder (September 18), pop mastermind Mikal Cronin (September 17), local post-punk flag-bearers Ought (September 17), Quebec chanteuse Coeur de Pirate (September 16) and alt-country vets Heartless Bastards (September 19).
