Green Day reunited their Sweet Children lineup for the first time in 26 years (video, setlist)

Recent Rock and Roll Hall of Hame inductees Green Day had a few surprises up their sleeves for last night’s show at Cleveland’s House of Blues. Paying homage to their roots before their appearance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony this weekend, the band brought out original Sweet Children-era drummer John Kiffmeyer for an 11-song opening set. The show marked the first time the trio have played together in 26 years, and included a number of tracks Green Day haven’t played live in 20+ years, including “I Was There,” and “Don’t Leave Me.”
Following the hour-long Sweet Children set, Green Day proper took the stage for a marathon show that also included a number of early tracks from the Kerplunk! era. They then pulled out Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong to join in on their cover of Armstrong’s previous band Operation Ivy’s “Knowledge,” before running through a version of the Rancid hit “Radio,” co-written by Billie Joe Armstrong.
