Buckfest, the annual Montreal festival celebrating all manner of local garage, rockabilly, punk and metal bands, is now in its 14th edition, which features over 100 local bands at L’Escogriffe throughout February. An early highlight of the festival’s program this year took place last night at L’Escogriffe, with a showcase by Montreal garage promoters Analogue Addiction, featuring Beat Cops, Pale Lips, and Paul Jacobs.
Beat Cops are a relatively new band, but have deep roots in Montreal, featuring ex-members of bands as diverse as Trigger Effect, The Stills, and Priestess. The band throw down a heavy classic rock sound with psychedelic undertones, which you can check out on their recent demo.
We covered Pale Lips back when they played during the Suoni Per Il Popolo festival back in June, and they’ve since unveiled a new 2-song demo of fun power-pop, which you can check out here.
The prolific one-man band outfit Paul Jacobs rounded out the bill, delivering a set of primitive garage rock. You can check out his myriad of releases over at his bandcamp page.

Buckfest runs all through February, at L’Escogriffe (4467 Rue Saint-Denis). For the full lineup, check out the festival’s Facebook page.
