Two chances to catch Death from Above 1979 this week

Death from Above 1979

Reunited Toronto two-piece ragers Death from Above 1979 are set to appear at a pair of very different Montreal events this week. The band will make their first post-reunion stop here (Laval doesn’t count) on Wednesday, December 4th at Metropolis, with support from another duo, acclaimed New York electro outfit Phantogram, as well as Toronto’s stoner rockers Biblical.

The night before the show, the band (Jesse F. Keeler and Sebastien Grainger) will be on hand within the cozy confines of the Phi Centre in Old Montreal to participate in a Q&A following the screening of Life After Death From Above 1979, a documentary on the band’s reunion directed by Eva Michon (who will also be in attendance). The film chronicles the dissolution of the band following the massive success of their debut LP, 2004’s You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine, the riot sparked by their initial SXSW reunion show, and their eventual reconciliation and return to recording and touring.

Details for both events, along with the film’s trailer, are below. Are you planning on going to either (or both) shows? Let us know in the comments below!

Life After Death From Above 1979 screens at Phi Centre (407 St Pierre St) on December 3rd at 8:00pm. Tickets are $11.25, available here. Death from Above perform at Metropolis (59 Rue Sainte-Catherine Est) on December 4th at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $35 / $40, available here
