The Presets is a band name that screams automation – mechanical and habitual, drained of spontaneity. But Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes are the antithesis to cursory, superficial performers. The Presets’ live show is praised for the intricate details. The band looks at all 10 years of music they’ve produced when curating a set list, meticulously choosing songs to create cohesion and symbiosis in their track selection. They carefully build their dynamic live show, each piece serving a specific purpose, layer upon layer, strobe upon strobe, pixel upon pixel. Their music ranges from high-falsetto synth pop to sneering, machismo electro house – Hamilton and Moyes work hard to entertain and entice while appearing to have it all planned out. Costumes are encouraged at The Presets pre-Halloween show this Thursday at La Tulipe, which also features Chela, Saint Pepsi and Franki Chan. Check out the official tour promo video, as well as The Presets’ latest video for ther latest single, No Fun, below.
