Bad Feeling Magazine Podcast #10 with Jake Burns (Stiff Little Fingers)

Stiff Little Fingers - Portraits

Stiff Little Fingers formed in Belfast in 1977, amidst the violence and chaos of Ireland’s Troubles. Their debut LP, Inflammable Material, is one of the classic punk albums of any era, a caustic yet hopeful outcry filled with enduring anthems including “Suspect Device” and “Alternative Ulster.”

The recently-released No Going Back LP marks the band’s first release in over a decade. Entirely crowd-funded via a Pledge Music campaign, the album features the same anger that fuelled the band’s early work, with an added emotional depth brought about by some of the most personal songs the band has ever recorded.

We spoke with frontman Jake Burns about the early days of the band in Ireland during the Troubles, the freedom and danger of crowd-funding, and his ties to Montreal.

The band are currently on tour, including a stop at Cafe Campus on September 15th. Tickets for that are available via GTN Tix. We also have a pair of tickets to give away – details for that are over on our Contest page.

You can listen to our interview with Jake via the embedded media player below, or right-click and “save as” here: Episode #10 – Jake Burns.

Stiff Little Fingers perform at Cafe Campus, Monday September 15th with So So Glos. Tickets are $25. For all tour dates visit http://www.slf.com/
